The JLGA began in December 2007, it's then current member's voted to adopt a symbol and slogan that they felt best represented their association, what it stood for, & their state. It was unanimous, the colors would be purple, green, & gold and the symbol would be the Fleur-De-Lis. Many slogans were discussed, but a comment from one JLGA Member talking about 2 & 4 legged kids, sealed the deal. Thus "KIDS" The future of the goat industry became the slogan.
The JLGA is dedicated to the youth & promoting the youth goat project throughout the state of Louisiana no matter what breed the youth decide to show or breed. The JLGA is open to all youth ages 2-19 years of age as of January 1 of the year they wish to be a member. Out of state youth may be JLGA members and enjoy full JLGA Membership benefits with the exception of the Bayou Certified Program.
Over the years, the JLGA has grown and our classes have expanded. We try to award as many placings as we can. Currently we have three regular Showmanship Class, along with Newbie & PeeWee Showmanship. Our goat classes include AOB Bucks, AOB Companion Wethers, AOB Does, Commercial Does, Dairy Bucks, Dairy Does, Fullblood Boer Bucks, Fullblood Boer Does, Market Goats, Percentage Boer Does, Pygmy Bucks & Pygmy Does. For complete details on individual classes offered at JLGA shows, please visit the "Show Rules" link under the "Rules/Regulations" tab above.
We'd love to have you join the fun. Please follow the "Events & Schedule" link under the "Members" link above. Come to watch, show, both, or just to visit. Also, please feel free to join our Face Book Page, Junior Louisiana Goat Association. All the latest updates are posted there first. Also it's a great place for youth and adults alike to talk goat, share pictures, & you can even place ads for anything goat and livestock related.
See y'all down the road!
